What do I need to concern when choosing a car charger?

As our rechargeable led work lights can be also charged via a car charger, it is of strong significance to choose a correct car charger for your handheld work light.

Below are the concerns when choosing a right car charger:

1) based on battery voltage

Under normal circumstances, the output voltage of the car battery is 12V, the truck is 24V, at present, many, many car chargers can already support 12V-24V voltage input, but before purchasing, you should still pay attention to the parameters of the car charger to avoid damaging the battery.

2) based on the brand

Need to buy a big brand charger that has passed 3C certification, and the common brands on the market, such as Greenlink, Baseus, Bull, Philips, Xiaomi, Pinsheng, Newman and so on, can be purchased with confidence.

3) based on security

Whether there are functions such as overvoltage, overcurrent, overheating, and short-circuit protection, the charger shell must choose flame-retardant materials to prevent spontaneous combustion of the shell at high temperatures.

Generally, mainstream brands on the market have done well in this regard.

4) based on the interface

Generally, the car charger interface is mainly divided into USB-A and USB-C, under normal circumstances, the dashcam will occupy a USB-A interface alone, while the iPhone fast charging needs to use the USB-C interface.

5) based on the protocol

At present, the mainstream fast charging protocols on the market are mainly as follows:

Compatible QC protocol (Qualcomm models), PD protocol (iPhone)

Samsung's AFC protocol, Huawei's FCP and SCP, OPPO's VOOC protocol, OnePlus's WARP protocol...

The car charger must at least support QC and PD protocols to achieve fast charging of 18W and above.

If you need to power the notebook, you need to support 65W and higher output USB-C interface (PD protocol).

Notes:

1) High-power car charger and inverter should not be used in the state of flame out, otherwise it is easy to cause battery loss.

2) Most of the car chargers and inverters on the market can only meet the use of non-tropical areas within 2000 meters above sea level, and the thin air in high altitudes and the high humidity environment in tropical areas cannot meet the breakdown voltage between the two pins and the heat dissipation needs of the equipment.

The author measured that this Newman inverter upstairs cannot be powered on normally at an altitude of 4700 meters...

If it needs to be used at high altitudes and tropical areas, it is necessary to pay special attention to the working condition of the equipment to avoid spontaneous combustion of the equipment.
